Situation

Our client, a fast growing and progressive law firm, looked to relocate the firm under one roof and provide clients, staff and future talent with an innovative and dynamic work environment. More importantly, our client saw the office move as a catalyst to radically improve working practices, releasing significant amounts to time spent on non-value add / irrecoverable activities, cutting the amount of paper held (and generated) by the firm, and exposing staff to change management practices ready for future large scale projects.
 

Solution

OMC Partners performed a deep dive review of the firm’s processes, identifying significant efficiency opportunities, and worked with senior stakeholders to deliver the benefits from these opportunities.

In addition, and integrated with the process change, OMC Partners smoothly delivered the office relocation, project managing a highly motivated team and minimising business interruption.  120 staff and all systems, records, materials and equipment were relocated over a weekend so that on Monday morning all staff immediately recommenced work with no business interruption or business risk.

Process improvement benefits included:

• the release of 15,000 annual hours of fee earner and staff time from non-value added tasks

• Significant improvement in both legal and support task efficiencies

• paper volumes reduced by c. 45% and six-figure process efficiency savings forecast.

 

This was all supported through a regular ‘drum beat’ of communications and a collaborative approach with stakeholders in the firm to ensure change was understood, supported and embedded.
