Alternative Resourcing in the Legal Sector



Our client, a top 20 international law firm, faced unprecedented pressure to provide clients with more cost effective legal solutions without compromising on service quality. Our client wished to explore the comparative cost benefits of establishing a regional support unit to house both lawyers and back office support staff.


Working with our client’s strategy team, OMC conducted an in depth analysis of the opportunities available in setting up a regional support unit, comparatively assessing over 20 locations, both in the UK and overseas. OMC worked closely with senior stakeholders to identify the criteria of greatest importance to the client, such as availability and cost of talent (legal and support), property and operational costs, and grant funding availability. Our comprehensive business modelling identified substantial opportunities for our client. Working with senior management, a short list of locations was drawn up, together with risk management strategies, communications plan and implementation timetable, all supporting the client’s own business case.
