Ian Prince speaks on the Outsourcing panel discussion at INSIGHT 2008

Ian Prince spoke on the Outsourcing panel discussion at INSIGHT 2008, the International Legal Technology Association conference held on 15th April 2008 at the Hilton More Place.

The conference featured leading technologists and business strategists from the US and UK, and we attended by CIOs, operational managers, lawyers, litigation specialists and in-house legal departments.

The panel session was well attended and was marked by active participation from the audience and cross fertilization of ideas between UK and US firms.

The consensus that emerged was that outsourcing and offshoring are now at the top of most firms’ management agendas and look likely to remain so. A wide range of views were expressed, with some participants believing that outsourcing and offshoring is the way of the future, and others concerned about organizational impacts.

Joining Ian on the panel were Joy Heath-Rush (Director of Applications) at Sidley Austin, Geoffrey Beedham (VP & Chief Counsel) at British Telecom, and Nigel Blackwood (IT Director) at Wragge & Co., and included those who have outsourced their IT services and those who have done the same with some of their legal services. They noted trends for the future and shared their success stories and potential pitfalls to avoid.
